Research

Beginning of 2019, the new Department of Nanocatalysis was established with primary focus on the fundamental studies of model catalysts designed with atomic precision down to the subnanometer scale in heterogeneous reactions under realistic reaction conditions of pressure and temperature, aiming to establish relations between the size and composition of the nanocatalysts and their performance, including support effects, in reactions of various complexity - from model reactions to processes of industrial relevance. Thanks to new staffing by the Institute, in 2020 the research at the Department was expanded into electrocatalysis at the nanoscale, to bridge the rational design of model heterogeneous catalysts and electrocatalysts.
